Blue Farmhouse, Tyler Road

Note the television antenna on the left side of the house. At one time, before satellites, everyone in the countryside used antennas if they watched television…it was the only link they had to the medium.

Some folks called antennas “aerials.” If you were really high-tech, your aerial had an electric motor which would turn it toward that distant signal. The motor was connected to a “rotor” device that sat on top of the TV and controlled the turning and pointing. SW to Albany, northwest to Columbus, north to Macon. East? Nothing.
