George Foy was my G.G.Grandfather. See the comments under
Rebecca Foy.
He was a plantation owner, farmer, had a grits mill & saw mill.
He gave the land just up the road from the old home place for
the Foy Cemetery.
There’s another Egypt, Ga. about 2 miles from Doles, Ga. The forgotten cemetery is still there and it’s not listed at the court house. There was a grocery. school and church. MY mother took us to the cemetery when she was living. Awesome site, I know where it is. The graves are caved in and coffins revealed. No one seems to know about this, Brian. Off Hwy 32 there’s a road called Egypt. So, at some point in time it existed,
would like to know more about this cemetery. My mother has distant relatives buried here. I’ve been here once. It has been forgotten. There used to be a community named Egypt. Could someone help me with more information about this forgotten town. It is located about 2 miles from Doles, Ga.
This cemetery is in Effingham County.
