Though begun in 1900, this church didn’t take on its present appearance until a complete remodel in 1920.

Thanks to Harriett Lawrence for the identification. Harriet’s grandfather, Jehu Branch, was the brother of the home’s owner. The family still owns and farms the land today.

Elberton, Swainsboro, and Brunswick all have Coca-Cola buildings very similar to Tifton’s (likely designed by the same architect), which now houses a doctor’s office.

Since the needless destruction of Fitzgerald’s landmark Lee-Grant Hotel to make way for a Piggly Wiggly in the 1960s, this is the city’s oldest standing hotel. It now serves the needs of developmentally disabled adults. For many years it was the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Wilmer Dorminy.
