When I was in high school (Cook Co High) we used to work tobacco in this building. Mr. Davis rented it to work his tobacco in. We also used the old Cecil School Building but that was torn down when I-75 came through.
In the early 30′s my father drove a grocery truck to the Cecil, Ga area from Nashville, Ga and Levin’s Grocery there. He told me he traded coffee and flower for chickens and eggs on his route. He stated he supplied a lot of these old stores during the Depression..Mr. Levin in Nashville had a grocery store there and sent out 3 grocery trucks out to surrounding counties..
Wonderful memories, Jim. I’m afraid were headed for times like that again if things don’t change in this country. I do know that even though those were hard times, my great-grandmother and grandmother said they were some of the happiest times of their lives.
