Satilla River at Woodbine

Posted in --CAMDEN COUNTY GA--, Woodbine GA with tags , , , , , , , on April 25, 2011 by Brian Brown

The city of Woodbine, much to their credit,  has created a wonderful public space along the banks of the Satilla River, incorporating boardwalks and an old Seaboard Coastline Railroad trestle, as well as a public boat launch. It’s also the home base for the annual Woodbine .Crawfish Festival, held each spring. If you’re ever driving along US Highway 17, you should stop here to stretch your legs and enjoy the scenery.

Hopefully, by seeing the positive things being done by communities along the Satilla, such as Woodbine, Georgians will realize that we must demand stricter controls on pollution. The Satilla is considered one of the most mercury-contaminated waterways in the state.
