Both Glory and East of Eden filmed scenes here. The buildings are original structures used in farming. Both movies painted the houses/barns for their purposes. The builidings last served as the town of Darien in the movie Glory. The movie called for the town to be torched by “the 54th” after they pillaged it as part of the War of Northern Aggression! Most of the buildings are still used for storage and can be seen from Hwy 280 but are ALL on private property.
Thanks, Bill! I love the area…
I don’t mean to encourage anyone to trespass. I shot most from the road with a long lens…but thanks again for the clarification!
I believe the parts of East of Eden were filmed in Lanier, at the area where 204 and 280 intersect.
Thanks, Bonnie! Glad that someone knows…
I thought this signage was left behind when they made East of Eden in the early 80′s or so. I dont remember any of Glory being filmed here.
Good to know…I’ve been told it was Glory, but I’ll add this information. Thanks.
This signeage was left behind by the movie company that made the Film “Glory”
Thank you so much, Andy! I knew it was movie-related, as per some of the earlier comments…but so glad to know which movie. And Glory was a great one…
I love your site! Thank you for your time and talent.
