I was very excited to find this church, which is presently known as Solid Rock Baptist Church. I’m sure it’s of antebellum construction, since it features a slave gallery; Deborah Scott Smith notes that when she moved to Meldrim in 1959 it was known as Meldrim Christian Church.

When I moved to Meldrim in 1959 the church was known as the Meldrim Christian Church. As the years went by members passed away and soon there was not many left. It then became the Solid Rock.
