Organized in 1845, this church stands on land given by G. W. (Wash) Smith and J. L. Strickland. (I’m not sure when the present structure was built.) Reverend Henry Williams was the first pastor. Charter members were: William Todd, Uriah Rogers, James A. Tippins, Edward Weathers, John H. Smith, John M. Burkhalter, David Barnard, Isaac Deloach, William Odum, Jack Hodges, and William Durrence. Descendants of these families can still be found in the area today.
