Here’s a link to my interview with Georgia News Network (GNN) host John Clark about Vanishing South Georgia. I really enjoyed meeting John and he does great work for our state and GNN. It was nice to be able to conduct the interviews in two of my favorite places, Midway and Mystic! (FYI the program runs for 30 minutes)

I am from Barnesville, (Lamar County). Just thought you might be interested in studying this little town. We have a very rich history, and even a haunted bed and breakfast. “Gone with the wind” was filmed in an old historic house here, FD Roosavelt came here to speak of the rural electorification act, and at one point, we were the “buggy capitol of the south” producing horse drawn buggies for all of the south, and we celebrate this heritage every September. There is an abundance civil war history, including a train crash that took place outside of town, to this day there is still railroad pieces marking the graves of the victims. Just a few miles to the north of us is was a once bustling little town of High Falls, but turned into a ghost town since it was decided not to run the railroad system through the town. There’s another ghost town a few miles outside of town, but I can’t remember the name of it.
Thanks for the invite and the historical background, Courtney. It’s been awhile since I was up there, but it is a beautiful area, indeed!
Thank You for sending this Radio conferance. Very interesting to me as I feel the spirit of the Old South Georgia. I would have loved to have helped you at one time. I am in Winston-Salem, NC now. Parts are Eastern NC are very similiar to S. Ga.
Thanks again,
Ken
Thanks for sending this
Seriously? There is a history professor from Pitts? What next, a neurosurgeon from Seville? Enjoying the interview. Fred Gleaton
