Georgia Home Building, Columbus
Built before 1862, when it appeared on a 50 cent paper note issued by the Bank of Columbus, this structure is an important early cast iron office building, and has been known by numerous names over the years. The Georgia Home Insurance Company was a long-time tenant, as was the First National Bank of Columbus. It was often simply called the “Iron Bank”, by locals. Today, it’s known as the First Broadway Building.
