I call these duplexes simply because the feature two front doors which are generally divided by a middle wall. I have no idea whether they were actually occupied by two different families at once, but they are encountered in many forms with the common feature being two front doors.

Green Tobacco Barn, Snake Road

When I was a boy, the green tobacco barns were always my favorites. My brother and I used to play in one near our house and the first time we ever went inside it we were spooked by a Barn Owl (Tyto alba). It’s hard to see at this size, but if you look really closely you’ll see a Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) perched atop this one. The green in question is actually tar paper siding, added by many farmers at one time or another to insulate older barns.
