Hugh Harris West shared a bit of the history of this old bank: After the bank closed, it was used as the Post Office for a long time. Later, It was used as “Ms. Pricilla Garner’s Studio of Piano and Voice.” I took voice lessons there for a few years in high school…I never learned to sing very good. I did a few local weddings since there was not too many folks available…(Later) Fred Carter (made) a laundromat out of it. I ride by it weekly. It would make a wonderful little museum.

Would it be for sale? And are there other properties there for sale? We are artists looking to relocate OUT of SC. My partner is a master Potter and I am multimedia artist/ primitive Doll creator. We could be interested in some properties in this area.
    Thanks

I never even knew there was a bank there! My former father-in-law that’s passed on , Mr. Hubert J.Medders has his name on a plaque that was on the pump house of the water works. My former mother-in-law was born and raised there on a big corner lot . The house burned down but the old barn remained. It’s since been sold. Her mother and father are buried in the old section of the Cemetary . She was a Chapman before marriage .

I did a few local weddings since there was not too many folks available. We also went on channel 10 on t.v. and did a program for the Veterans Home in Thomasville, GA. Fred Carter did make a laundromat out of it. I ride by it weekly. It would make a wonderful little museum.

Yes, it is still owned by the Carters. I wish that something could have been done with this beautiful old building. It would have made a great coffee shop or hair salon.

I guess the Carter’s still own this building. It was a bank and then changed into a laundromat–now it just holds storage.
