Oak Grove Methodist Church, Coffee County

This historic congregation near the Ocmulgee River dates to 1846. It shares a pastor with Mary’s Chapel these days, but still holds services.

I was Christened in that little church in 1968. I’m related to most of the departed in the cemetery. I have so many fond childhood memories at Oak Grove. I love that little country church.

I pass by this chapel often while on my way from Hazlehurst to Fitzgerald. I wonder if meetings are still held here; once on a Thanksgiving weekend I saw people there having a dinner spread.
