Patsy Vickers Blackner writes: This is the Vickers family store. It was originally built by my grandfather, Carlie E. Vickers and it was run by the family until they built a new store in Douglas. Dena Vickers Cotti adds: That was my grandfather’s store. My father grew up in the white house behind it. The right side of the store was the old ice house. It was my dad’s responsibility to keep up with the ice house.

This picture makes me want to cry. That was my grandfather’s store. My father grew up in the white house behind it. The right side of the store was the old ice house. It was my dad’s responsibility to keep up with the ice house.

This is the Vickers family store. It was originally built by my Grandfather Carlie E. Vickers and was run by himself and his family until they built the new store in Douglas.

What is the last name of your family that lived in Mora? My family was also some of the first settlers that lived there.

  4. So sad to see these building in disrepair; wonder if that stingray was originally red and then faded to purple.

Knew Elisha Vickers family in Carver church community years ago …wana say Harvey & Fay, Lisha jr. and several others. Nice folk! Had Jake McClelland family adjoining property relatives. Always enjoyed visits there. Nothing like Coffee county Ga.
