According to their Facebook page, the Oglethorpe Lounge has been open since 1954. In an era when most dive bars are closing, the Oglethorpe is alive and well. Their Carling Black Label sign is a landmark in its own right.

Lived in Albany couple years in mid 60’s…think I remember this place. A friend, attorney Francis Davis had a law office nearby and ran the H &R Block Tax office also!
The Oglethorpe Lounge is still the place to meet your friends in Albany. Neighborhood atmosphere and great music.
