First, I am the Great Grandson of Mr. W.C. Wright and the current owner of this house.
Second, Mr. Wright was also a banker and one of the largest peach farmers in Georgia at that time.
Third, Mr. Evans’ home was a block down the street and he never owned this house.

This is the home of A.J. Evans, the peach king. Evans’ promotions of Georgia peaches during the first half of the 20th century led to their recognition world-wide, which is why we are known as the peach state. He was also instrumental in the promation of Peach County, GA which was formed from part of Houston County in 1924.

    • Thanks, Andrew. I got the information from the “Walking-Driving” guide, but wondered about who lived here between the time it was built and the acquisition by the Women’s Club. I’ll change the title to reflect this information.
