The state archive has an ask an archivist form on their web page so I asked if they could tell us when and by whom Alston was founded. I’d bet pre-Civil War during the expansion of cotton planting.
The land that is now Montgomery County was still in Indian hands until 1783
That was added to the entry recently by an anonymous user. I took the liberty of removing it.
