This iconic three-bay garage barn, among the most unique in South Georgia, was owned for most of its history by Jim Coleman, who also owned the iconic “Big Barn” across the road. It was likely used for both automobiles and tractors over the years. I’ve recently learned that it is no longer standing.
This is spectacular. a grand gesture for a vernacular form.
Hey Brian – I have seen imagery of it after it collapsed, sometime last year, I believe. Someone shared that, but I can’t recall on which platform.
It’s a real loss. I still hope to document more about Mr. Coleman, the builder, at some point in the future.
