This was the home of one of Adrian’s most prominent early businessmen, T. A. Cheatham. The vintage postcard (below) was published by the City Drug Store circa 1910.

Eclectic House, Adrian
Though the layout is Georgian Cottage, this house has Victorian elements, as well. Whatever the form, it’s one of my favorite houses in Adrian.

T. A. Cheatham Building, Adrian
Seen here in detail (above) and in full (below right), the Cheatham Building is one of the nicest remaining commercial structures in Adrian. I hope it is preserved.

Adrian, Georgia
Adrian is located smack-dab on the Emanuel-Johnson County line, but the majority is in Emanuel County. Locals joke that in one church the preacher gives his sermon from one county to his congregants in another. But one thing that’s no joke is that Adrian is a very friendly town…and if you ever find yourself there for lunch, stop by the Farmhouse Cafe, which is known for its homemade cathead biscuits. Of course, the lace bread isn’t so bad, either!
