Most of the storefronts in Enigma are hip-roofed, giving the town an appearance more typical of the late 19th century than of the 21st.
Sara Turner, who owns this building, notes that it was an old store at one time but will soon be reopened as a pharmacy. It’s always great to see these places get a new lease on life.
The first Methodist church in Enigma, a simple frame structure, was built near this site in 1886. In 1887, a more formal church was built. During the ministry of N. H. Olmstead, the structure was destroyed during a storm and the present example rebuilt with its timbers.
