This house was demolished by 2015.
Carole Wyland reports that this hotel was destroyed by fire on 12 January 2017.
Visible here are two of Rochelle’s most prominent landmarks, the Mashburn & Fitzgerald Building and Braziel Mercantile Company.
Several 0f the remaining storefronts along 1st Avenue have been restored since I made this photograph. I hope more can be done, though.
Thanks to Jim Lasseter for the identification. He notes that his grandparents, Zadoc Wilder and Ava Sutton Lasseter bought this house around 1900 from its builder, a Mr. Cooke, who milled the lumber for the house on site shortly after the founding of Rochelle.
The old service station which housed Nell’s was torn down in January 2010.
