Gordon Avenue Apartments, 1929, Thomasville

This Tudor Revival apartment complex was designed by architects Sydney S. Daniell and Russell L. Beutell and built in 1929 to meet the immediate housing needs of the growing middle class community of Thomasville.

Each section of the complex has a slightly different design giving a bit a whimsical tone to the whole structure. It’s an early example of this process, commonly used with condominiums and apartments today.

Commercial Block, Nicholls

This commercial block has had several uses over the years. Rickey Justices writes: First it was post office, then bank, then a clothes store (The Squire Shoppe), then Ware Forest. It always had apartments upstairs.

I believe this was razed in 2017.

The Holtzendorf Apartments, an unusual example of the early 20th-century “garden” or “flat” apartment in a small town, was the first apartment building in Fitzgerald.  Its Craftsman-style features add to its visual appeal.

Pueblo Revival Apartments, Fitzgerald

Update (2016): This was a landmark of my childhood. We always passed it when we went to my grandmothers’ house and I was intrigued by its appearance. In my lifetime, it was always an apartment/duplex. Sadly, it was demolished in the past two or three years.
