Tobacco Barn, Telfair County

Long gone are the days of that kind of tobacco barn, but the memories of the tobacco growing culture lives forever in this old man. This photo is a great one, and though cotton is seen in the foreground of this photograph, tall blooming tobacco plants thrive in visions of yesteryear. Getting up at daylight and going out to the stock barn to hitch the mule to a sled seems like it happened just the other day. As the sun began to warm the dew covered foliage, barefooted, off to the field we trudged on puttin-in day. Now days ain’t many old boys cropping backer . Ain’t many mules pulling sleds, nor women stringing leaves. “Time creeps on at its petty pace until the last second of recorded time.”
